Guto Bebb holds second 'Street Surgery'

Guto Bebb MP, supported by his constituency staff, held his second street surgery of the year in Bryn Seiri Road, Conwy on Saturday. A range of issues were brought to his attention including the state of the road surface in Berth y Glyd, residents curiosity about the status of a piece of land locally that had previously been earmarked for development, dog fouling on the path to Porth y Felin, ESA’s issues and a number of other benefit related matters.

In a report published today, Wednesday 6 March 2013, the Commons Welsh Affairs Committee says that despite welcome new Government investment in cross border rail links, major problems remain with the key M4 road link.

New Year to February Recess

Once again I have seen two months pass almost in the blink of an eye and despite the extreme cold outside as I write I suspect that spring will soon be in the air.  We can only hope!

Mis-selling derivatives

Thousands of businesses have fallen into financial distress after being allegedly mis-sold a number of interest rate hedging products by Britain’s biggest banks. Conservative MP Guto Bebb became aware of the issue in October 2011 when a constituent, Colin Jones, visited his surgery and told him of his situation. Since then, the UK lawmaker for the Welsh constituency of Aberconwy has led the drive to force regulators into their recent review and pilot scheme to determine the scope and scale of the multibillion-pound scandal.

Guto Bebb welcomes FSA redress scheme for SMEs

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has confirmed that Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds and RBS will start the full review of their sales of interest rate hedging products (IRHPs) to small businesses. Following a long campaign from Aberconwy MP Guto Bebb, which led to  the FSA announcing in June last year that it had found serious failings in the sale of IRHPs.

Looking back over late 2012

First of all my apologies for being quiet from October 2012 until now in terms of my diary pieces.  As some of you might be aware I broke my wrist badly in October which resulted in an operation to pin my wrist and insert a plate.

A month has flown by since my last set of ramblings was circulated so it is no bad thing that I at least attempt to tell you what has been happening during September.  September is an odd month for an MP.  Whilst we return to Parliament for two weeks and a few days we are then back on recess in order to facilitate the conference season
