I was sorry to have missed the Conwy Honey Fair but I was flying back from a visit to the United States on Saturday.  As usual, the feedback I have heard from the event is very positive with those who attended being amazed at the number and the quality of the food and craft producers who were showing their products.

Yn anffodus, collais Ffair Fêl Conwy am fy mod i'n hedfan yn ôl o ymweliad ag Unol Daleithiau America ddydd Sadwrn. Yn ôl yr arfer, mae’r adborth rydw i wedi’i glywed ar ôl y digwyddiad wedi bod yn gadarnhaol iawn ac, yn ôl y sôn, roedd nifer ac ansawdd y cynhyrchwyr bwyd a chrefftau a arddangosodd eu cynhyrchion yn y ffair yn rhyfeddol.

It was a pleasure on Saturday to attend a well-supported show at Llanrwst which, I’m pleased to say, also enjoyed the weather that the efforts of the volunteers deserve.

The previous week I had missed the Eglwysbach show for the first time since my election back in 2010 due to family commitments, so it was good to be able to catch-up with organisations such as the Farmers Union of Wales, the National Farmers Union and others who work to ensure that we have a vibrant and functioning rural community here in north west Wales.

Journalists enjoy saying that Members of Parliament have left Westminster for their summer holiday highlighting the fact that it will be a six week break from the House of Commons for most of us. As the old saying goes, a change is as good as a rest but in all seriousness some of the most important work done by any MP for their constituents is undertaken away from London and that does not change during the summer recess.

Mae newyddiadurwr wrth eu bodd yn dweud bod Aelodau Seneddol wedi gadael San Steffan am eu gwyliau haf, gan dynnu sylw at y ffaith y bydd y rhan fwyaf ohonom ni’n cael seibiant chwe wythnos o hyd o Dŷ’r Cyffredin. Fel y dywed yr hen air, mae newid yn lles. Ond a bod o ddifrif, mae rhywfaint o waith pwysicaf unrhyw Aelod Seneddol ar ran ei etholwyr yn cael ei wneud i ffwrdd o Lundain, ac nid ydy hynny’n newid yn ystod toriad yr haf.

I was at the Farnborough Air Show on Monday in my role as a Defence Minister and was delighted to be with the Prime Minister as she announced Government support for our new Combat Air Strategy. I have been involved with this project since January and was pleased that following detailed discussions with industry, other Government departments and internally within the MoD we were able to get the project over the line in time for this fantastic Air Show.

Fel rhan o fy rôl fel Gweinidog Amddiffyn, bûm yn Sioe Awyrennau Farnborough ddydd Llun ac roeddwn yn falch o fod gyda'r Prif Weinidog pan gyhoeddodd fod y Llywodraeth yn bwriadu cefnogi ein Strategaeth 'Combat Air'. Rwyf wedi bod yn ymwneud â'r prosiect hwn ers mis Ionawr ac, yn dilyn trafodaethau manwl â'r diwydiant, adrannau eraill o'r Llywodraeth a thrafodaethau mewnol â'r Weinyddiaeth Amddiffyn, roeddwn yn falch ein bod wedi llwyddo i gwblhau'r prosiect mewn pryd ar gyfer y Sioe Awyrennau anhygoel hon.

Resignation / Ymddiswyddiad

I should like to thank all of you both here in the constituency and from further afield who have written in support of the action that I took on Monday which resulted in my resignation as a Defence Minister. It has been heartening that the vast majority of correspondence on this subject has been supportive however I have also, unsurprisingly, had some critical correspondence. However, some of that appears to be based on a lack of understanding of my reasoning so I hope this will help those of you who are interested.

Carwn ddiolch i bob un ohonoch yma yn fy etholaeth a’r tu hwnt sydd wedi ysgrifennu i gefnogi’r cam a gymerais ddydd Llun, arweiniodd at fy ymddiswyddiad fel Gweinidog Amddiffyn.  Mae hi wedi bod yn galonogol bod y mwyafrif helaeth o’r ohebiaeth ar y pwnc yma wedi bod yn gefnogol, serch hynny nid yw’n syndod fy mod wedi cael rhywfaint o ohebiaeth feirniadol hefyd.  Fodd bynnag, mae rhywfaint o’r ohebiaeth honno’n seiliedig ar ddiffyg dealltwriaeth o’m rhesymeg, felly rwy’n gobeithio y bydd hyn yn helpu’r rheini ohonoch chi sydd â diddordeb.

What a busy few weeks! Armed Forces Day was a huge success for Llandudno and Conwy Council and they deserve praise for the way in which the event was managed.

I have had nothing but praise for the event from colleagues within the Ministry of Defence and I must confess that welcoming the Princess Royal and the Prime Minister to Llandudno as the local MP and a Defence minister was a very proud moment.

Am wythnosau prysur! Roedd Diwrnod y Lluoedd Arfog yn llwyddiant ysgubol i Landudno a Chyngor Conwy ac maent yn haeddu clod am reoli’r digwyddiad mor ddidrafferth.

Roedd fy nghydweithwyr yn y Weinyddiaeth Amddiffyn yn canu clodydd y digwyddiad ac mae’n rhaid i mi gyfaddef fod croesawu’r Dywysoges Frenhinol a’r Prif Weinidog i Landudno fel yr AS lleol ac un o’r gweinidogion Amddiffyn yn foment balch iawn i mi.

Are you bored of the constant discussion and debate around Brexit? I suspect you are. So am I! However, this week I feel that I do need to touch upon the issue since last week the EU Withdrawal Bill finally became law.

Ydych chi wedi cael digon o'r drafodaeth ddiddiwedd ynghylch Brexit? Rwy'n tybio eich bod chi. A minnau hefyd! Fodd bynnag, yr wythnos hon, rwy'n teimlo bod angen i mi drafod y mater oherwydd mae Bil Gadael yr UE bellach yn gyfraith ers yr wythnos ddiwethaf.
