Remembrance Sunday:
As you all know this year was the hundredth anniversary of the end of the First World War.  I have been constantly surprised at the growing turnout for Remembrance Sunday since my election in 2010 with numbers increasing dramatically since the efforts to commemorate the First World War started back in 2014.  This year was a fitting pinnacle for those efforts and the numbers at services throughout the Constituency of Aberconwy were a testament to the way in which this anniversary has clearly touched the hearts of local people.

Sul y Cofio:
Fel y gwyddoch i gyd, eleni oedd canmlwyddiant diwedd y Rhyfel Byd Cyntaf. Ers fy ethol yn 2010, rwyf wastad wedi cael fy synnu gan y dorf gynyddol sy’n troi allan ar gyfer Sul y Cofio, ac mae’r niferoedd wedi cynyddu’n aruthrol ers yr ymdrechion i gofio’r Rhyfel Byd Cyntaf ddechrau yn 2014. Roedd eleni yn benllanw addas ar gyfer yr ymdrechion hynny ac roedd y niferoedd mewn gwasanaethau ar draws Etholaeth Aberconwy yn dyst i’r ffordd y mae’r garreg filltir hon yn amlwg wedi cyffwrdd â chalonnau pobl leol.

Sharp End.

On 12th November 2018 Guto appeared on ITV’s “Sharp End”, discussing Brexit and the rumours around what would be included in the EU Withdrawal Agreement (the interview took place before the agreement was unveiled days later).

Ar 12fed Tachwedd 2018, ymddangosodd Guto ar “Sharp End” ar ITV yn trafod Brexit a’r sïon am gynnwys posibl Cytundeb Gadael yr UE (cynhaliwyd y cyfweliad cyn i’r cytundeb gael ei gyhoeddi rai diwrnodau’n ddiweddarach).

This week we had a rather unique event – a budget on a Monday, the first in almost sixty years so no end of excitement for us political anoraks. For everybody else it was more a case of what was in the budget and in my view, the Chancellor, Phillip Hammond delivered on many of the issues that I have worked on and campaigned for.

Of crucial importance in my view was the significant investment announced into Universal Credit (UC). This significant and far reaching change has been much maligned and yet, in the limited way it has been rolled out, what I have seen during numerous visits to job centres is a success story. The budget saw a further £1bn made available on top of £1.5bn last year to ensure that those moving from the current system into UC can be protected from any income reduction. That is crucial and was an issue I had highlighted with other MPs. Good news.

Digwyddodd rhywbeth eithaf unigryw yr wythnos hon. Cawsom gyllideb ar ddydd Llun - y gyntaf mewn bron i chwe deg mlynedd - felly roedd yna gyffro mawr i ni yn y byd gwleidyddol. I bawb arall, beth oedd cynnwys y gyllideb oedd o ddiddordeb, ac yn fy marn i, mae’r Canghellor, Phillip Hammond wedi cyflawni ar nifer o’r materion rwyf i wedi gweithio arnyn nhw ac wedi ymgyrchu drostyn nhw.

Yn fy marn i, mae’r buddsoddiad sylweddol a gyhoeddwyd ar gyfer Credyd Cynhwysol yn hollbwysig. Mae llawer o drafodaethau beirniadol wedi bod am y newid arwyddocaol a phellgyrhaeddol hwn. Ond o’r ffordd gyfyngedig y mae wedi cael ei gyflwyno’n raddol, ac o’r hyn rwyf wedi’i weld drwy ymweld â chanolfannau gwaith sawl tro, mae’n llwyddiannus. Yn y gyllideb, roedd £1bn yn ychwanegol ar gael ar ben £1.5bn y llynedd i sicrhau bod y rheini sy’n symud o'r system bresennol i Gredyd Cynhwysol yn gallu cael eu gwarchod rhag unrhyw ostyngiad mewn incwm. Mae hyn yn hollbwysig, ac yn fater yr oeddwn i wedi tynnu sylw ato gydag Aelodau Seneddol eraill. Newyddion da.

Community Spirit:

One of the best things about being the MP for Aberconwy is the opportunity offered to witness at first hand the work of volunteers in numerous organisations and the difference they make to community cohesion.

Ysbryd Cymunedol:

Un o’r pethau gorau am fod yn AS dros Aberconwy yw’r cyfle i weld, gyda fy llygaid fy hun, y gwaith mae gwirfoddolwyr yn ei wneud mewn sawl sefydliad a’r gwahaniaeth maen nhw’n ei wneud i gydlyniant cymunedol.
