BBC Radio Four Today Programme – Student Journalism Awards.

Today BBC Radio Four launched their 2019 Student Journalism Awards.  These are very prestigious awards and could really kick start a career.  I know that there are many young people in Aberconwy who want to follow careers in journalism and broadcasting and I would urge you to enter these awards.  To win would be fantastic but to be judged by such prestigious judges and hopefully get some feedback at a highly professional level on your work would be an unforgettable experience.

There are five categories:

Best Student Journalist.

The BBC are looking for the UK’s best student journalist. You might be broadcasting on student radio, writing articles for a student magazine, or creating great online pieces for a student website. The important thing is that you're already displaying journalistic potential and are regularly finding new stories and reporting them with rigour and accuracy.

The winner of this award will be offered a paid position on the BBC News Journalism Trainee Scheme – a great start to any career in journalism.

Best Student Broadcaster

The BBC are looking for a compelling student broadcaster with a nose for a good story.  They would like someone who can bring boundless enthusiasm and strong editorial judgement in video or audio broadcasting. It goes to say that they are looking for someone who is a great communicator and also has a fascination with news and current affairs.

The winner of this award will be offered a work experience placement with the Today Programme team in London, or elsewhere in the UK if preferred.
